As usual, Sunday’s Giffordtown 5k race was a top class race with a number of excellent performances from the 17 PH athletes taking part.
Andrew Wright was once again the top man for PH, and also 1st V50 overall, in 16:09. In doing so, he improved on his own V50 club record set two years ago at the same race. Not far behind was in-form Barry Smith who set a new personal best of 16:29. Stuart Meiklejohn was third PH male in 17:35, only a fortnight on from his personal best run at the Loch Ness Marathon.

Stuart Green finished in 18:03, holding off Bob Irving and Jordy Hutt who ran 18:08 and 18:13 respectively, both personal bests we believe. Scott Love timed at 19:18 with Wright Beveridge following in 19:41, ahead of Michael Lindsay (!9:57) and Kevin Hughes (20:04).

John Crookston had an excellent run of 20:48 to finish as 3rd V60, just four seconds ahead of Mark Western, and Ed Norton won the V70 prize for his run of 22 minutes dead.

First PH female was Judy Turner who ran 22:17., while Mary Western took the V60 prize and set a new club age category record of 22:59. Lauren Bennet was happy with a personal best time of 23:28 and Clare Graham completed her run in 24:35.

After the race it was onto the tracking app to see how Mark McLean was getting on over in Chicago where he was running in his fifth Marathon Major. Things didn’t quite go to plan with him getting tripped around half way and picking up a few cuts and bruises, but still he finished in a very respectable time of 3:15:41. Well done Mark!

Thanks to Brian Stewart Photography, Pete Bracegirdle and Gordon Donnachie for the excellent race photos and to Fife AC for putting on another superb event.
