Dumfries Running Club were the hosts for last weekend’s British Masters Half Marathon Championships, with the event incorporated into their own Dumfries Half Marathon race. Taking part were three PH athletes, all of whom are residents of Clackmannanshire.

There was a great battle for the British V50 gold medal between our own Andrew Wright and Andy Davis. After three and a half miles of uphill running into a headwind, Andy caught Andrew with about three quarters of a mile to go, but Andrew out-sprinted him to take the gold medal in 1:16:49. Andy followed only four seconds and one place behind, in 9th overall, to collect the British V50 silver medal.

The third PH member taking part, but sporting Scottish Veteran Harriers colours for the race, was Malcolm Hammond. He also had a superb run of 1:41:56 to take British V75 gold. The three also combined to win the team silver medal in the British Championships. All in all it was a very successful day out from the Wee County.

Well done to all and thanks to Dumfries Running Club for organising and providing the race photographs.
