Sunday 6th September was the tenth anniversary of PH being officially affiliated with Scottish Athletics and we had 18 members running the Stirling 10k, which was the 15th event of our own Club Championship.

Reigning Club Champion Luke McNeil was the top male performer for the club, running 33:55 to secure another 50 points and make a it a perfect score of 400 in this year’s table. Andrew Wright finished 1st V50 in 34:12 and was followed home by Peter Gibson, Dan Monaghan, Ewan Taylor and Barry Smith, all under 35 mins.

Stuart Meiklejohn won the battle of the Stuarts, clocking 36:53 ahead of Stuart Green, and Mark McLean ran well once again, finishing 7th in the V50 category in 38:17. John Crookston went one better finishing as 6th V60 in 41:56.

Last year’s female Club Champion, Kristin Lownie, continued her excellent form, running 38:44 to finish 14th female overall and 7th in the V40s. This also meant she moved into pole position to retain her club title. Lauren Bennet ran a new PB 49:09, finishing ahead of Clare Graham, despite her ‘giving it the beans’ as pictured.

It was also great to see Andrew’s son Julian Wright finishing 3rd in the 2k kids race in 8:09, wearing his adapted PH vest!

Elsewhere over the weekend, Judy Turner completed the Ben Nevis Race. This challenging race goes from the foot of the highest mountain in the UK to the top, which Judy reached in 1:48:40, then back down again, Judy finishing in 2:58:03.

Well done to all who were racing, and thanks to George Vekic Photography for the excellent race photos.
