PH Racing Club topped the podium no less than four times across the weekend at the Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival, including a clean sweep of the ladies races in the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon events. First event was the 5k Trail Race where Gillian Wallace was the only PH representative, finishing as 1st female in 26:57, though having covered some extra distance.
The two lap 10k Trail Race was also event 14 of the PH Club Championships and 13 from the club were on the start line. Andrew Wright led the way, winning overall in 37:09, with Julie Menzies doing likewise in the women’s race, finishing in 43:49. Other prize winners were Stuart Green who was 1st V40 in 41:32 and Malcolm Hammond, 1st V70 in 49:53, while Andrew McQueen had a good run to finish in 7th place overall in 42:16.
On Sunday morning, it was the Kirkcaldy Parks Half Marathon where Luke McNeil finished 3rd overall in 1:15:38. Kristin Lownie made it a clean sweep of race wins for the ladies finishing 1st in 1:27:25, after running with Mark McLean who eventually finished just ahead in 1:27:06. Also taking on the hilly route was Sarah Paterson, who completed her run in 1:39:08.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Jordy Hutt finished 2nd in the Inverleith Park 10k in Edinburgh, timing at 40:17 on a course with a lot of dead turns. There were also 3 PH at the Scottish Coal Carrying Championships in Kelty where Ivor McIvor finished 1st V70 in 8:40 for 1km, just ahead of local boy Bob Irving. Helen Burns finished 17th in the women’s race in 7:11.
There was also more racing on Sunday. Malcolm Hammond made his way up to Perth 10k where he scooped yet another V70 prize, finishing in 45:50. There were two PH at the General Sosabowski Race on the beach at Leven, where Iain Wallace finished 1st V50 in 20:46. Ivor McIvor also picked up his second V70 prize of the weekend finishing in 24 mins dead.
