PH Racing Club’s Karen Kennedy was once again on the Scottish team for last Saturday’s British and Irish Masters Cross Country International. It was the fourth year in succession that Kennedy has represented Scotland in the V45 category. This year’s event was hosted by the English at Aintree Racecourse, near Liverpool, where the Scots were also joined by teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic.
Kennedy took part in the second race of the day, which included age categories from V35 to V60, covering the 6k course in 24:04 for 58th position overall and 13th in the V45 category. This made her 3rd counter in the bronze medal winning Scotland team which also included Jennifer MacLean, Megan Wright and Allie Chong. They also contributed to third place finishes for both the Scotland women’s team and the overall combined team.
On Sunday, Alison McGill took on the Tweed Valley 50k Ultra which started and finished at Glentress and featured 1145m of ascent and descent on the tough trail route. Devil O’ The Highlands winner McGill finished in an excellent 9th position overall and 3rd female in a time of 4:39:20.
Well done to both from all at PH Racing Club. It was great to see Karen being selected to represent her country once again. Thanks to High Terrain Events for the photo of Alison receiving her prize.
