Saturday’s Broughton Heights Hill Race near Biggar incorporated both the Scottish and East District Hill Running Championships as well as a Junior Home International Trial for under 17 and under 20 age groups.

Taking part in the trial race and continuing his fine form was PH Racing Club’s Andrew Thomson.  While we are not sure of the selection criteria, he will have done himself no harm with an under 17 fifth place finish, timing at 28:21 for the 5.1km course with 320m ascent and descent.

In the senior race there was double success for Andrew Wright who took home medals from both championships, winning V40 silver in the Scottish Championship, behind Cambuslang’s Justin Carter.  Wright’s time of 50:02 for the 9.6km route, which included 600m ascent and descent, also secured East District V40 gold.

Well done to both Andrews and thanks to the race organisers and to Karen Thomson for the photographs.
