And there’s PH success at Dunblane & Liverpool

In true Aberdonian fashion, the rain poured down on the Scottish National Masters 5000m Championships on Sunday. This did not deter PH Racing Club’s Karen Kennedy, who secured the Scottish National Masters title in style.

Karen was crowned champion after covering the twelve and a half laps in a time of 19:13.69, almost 50 seconds ahead of her nearest rival.

This is a truly fantastic achievement for Karen who adds this title to her long list of other National Gold medals.

In her time with PH Racing Club, Karen has successfully won the 2016 Scottish 10k Championship Masters Gold, the 2017 & 2018 Scottish Masters XC V45 Gold and the 2019 Scottish Masters Indoor 1500m V45 Gold. Add to these her National Team Golds at the Masters Relays this year and the National XC Relays in 2016 (masters) plus a long list of Silver and Bronze medals including a bronze this year over the same distance at the Scottish 5k Championships earlier this month.

Also on Sunday, Kinnoull Hill champion Mike McConnell hit the roads again at the Dunblane 12k. After his outstanding run away performance on the hills, Mike found himself in a tight battle on Sunday, mixing it with a quality sharp end for the top spots. Mike finished in a very creditable 4th place in a fast time of 42:23.

Finally, there was more success for PH as Ed Norton, another Scottish International alongside Karen Kennedy, finished third V65 at the Liverpool Rock n Roll Half Marathon in a time of 1:41:53.
