As per tradition, the final weekend in May saw the staging of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. The two day festival takes in four races, a 5k and 10k on the Saturday followed by a Half and Full Marathon on the Sunday.
Jonny Peebles continued his tremendous form by setting yet another personal best. Jonny had a fantastic run in the half marathon to cover the 13.1 mile course in a new PH Racing Club record time of 1:14:21. This placed Jonny in 20th place, a brilliant achievement by the man of the moment in a field of thousands.
Jonny’s current form is a credit to his hard work, dedication and sacrifice in pursuit of taking his running to a new level.
Graeme Doig finished just 21 places back in 41st place completing his first half marathon for over 3 years in a solid time of 1:18:03.
Kristin Lownie was the next to cross the line in the PH vest. Kristin was the sole PH woman and ran well also, timing 1:24:15 to make the top fifteen in the women’s race, finishing in 14th spot.
Chris Stuart and David Henderson were the other PH Racing Club members to complete the half marathon this weekend.
PH junior members Andrew Thomson and Aaron Bennet were both in action on Saturday.
Andrew, fresh from his victory last weekend, mixed it with the seniors at the fore of the 10k race. With a terrific time of 38:20, Andrew placed 24th, a top quality performance from an under 15 athlete.
Aaron Bennet competed in the 5k, as part of a fundraising mission raising funds for Epilepsy Scotland. Congratulation to Aaron on his charitable efforts and finishing time of 21:39.
