A welcome number of athletes from PH Racing Club took part in the now traditional PH Christmas parkrun on Saturday.  Having moved from Dunfermline to Kirkcaldy last year due to ice it was decided we would take in another parkrun location, Lochore Meadows, which started this year and has proven popular with club members.

The male and female Festive parkrun trophies were up for grabs and there were new names on both on the day with male champion of the last two years Ben Hukins not running.

In the male race Andrew Wright was well clear of his club mates, finishing second in a time of 17:13. First place overall went to Alastair Hay of Central AC who set a new course record of 16 minutes dead.

On the female side Kristin Lownie also had a comfortable cushion timing at 19:21.  Things may have got interesting though had first placed female Alison McGill (19:01) joined the club before 9.30am rather than waiting until lunchtime!

There was also a focus on the age grade percentages which parkrun provide.  These are the calculated based on the world record time for age and gender and give a good indication of the quality of a run. Andrew Wright came out top here as well on 81.7%, even outdoing the younger race winner by this metric.  Iain Taylor was next best for PH with a score of 78.6% for his 6thplace run of 18:46.

Not far behind Iain was junior member Andrew Thomson who continued his rapid improvement with a time of 18:48.  Wright Beveridge and Aaran Gibb finished close together in 19:09 and 19:10 respectively while Karen Kennedy was second PH female with a time of 20:47.  Allen Marr came out top of the PH V60s timing at 21:08.  Zoe Stuart (21:10) and Robyn Morrocco (21:30) were the 3rd  and 4th PH females finishing 4th and 6th overall.

Thanks very much to the event organisers, particularly for going to such great lengths to produce the results after a timer failure.  Thanks also to Gordon Donnachie for once again providing such superb race photos.
