PH Racing Club athletes were in action over the classic mile distance at two different locations on Wednesday evening with a number of notable performances.

Four teams were fielded at the annual Sri Chinmoy 3 x 1 Mile Relay at The Meadows in Edinburgh and the Men’s Senior Team of Jonathan Peebles, Paul Kieran and Robert Sellar put in a fantastic performance.  Peebles ran the fastest split of 4.52 on the lead off leg to hand over to Kieran in 6th position.  He made up one further place with a strong run of 5.01 before Robert Sellar brought the team home in 5.00 to secure 5th position overall.

The Men’s V60 Team of John Crookston (5.41), Ed Norton (5.55) and Ian Johnston (5.53) finished in first place in their category with an overall time of 17.29, faster than the winning team in the V50 category, and each received a pineapple for their trouble!

Mixed Team A of Philip Waring (5.17), Scott Love (5.37) and Kristin Lownie (5.27) finished as first mixed team, also taking home the pineapples and Mixed Team B performed well with Niall Balloch (5.33) running a time good enough for Team A.  It was excellent to see new member Robyn Morrocco (6.05) running her first race in PH colours and thanks to Chris Rhodes (5.45) who filled in at short notice showing that he would be welcome addition to the club.

Well done to all and thanks to Adrian Stott, his team from Run and Become and additional volunteers for organising and photographs.

Meanwhile, PH Racing Club’s Stuart Tite and Karen Kennedy were in excellent form at the Ravenscraig Park 1 Mile Race in Kirkcaldy.  Tite clocked an impressive 4.57 finishing 2nd overall while Karen Kennedy won the ladies race in 5.46.

Karen also won this year’s mile series overall while Robert Sellar (V40) and John Crookston (V60) scooped category wins.

Thanks to Alison McGill and her team from Fife AC for organising and to Wullie Law for the excellent race photos.
