PH Racing Club was represented by twelve members at the 4 mile Portobello Promathon on New Year’s Day with two of our athletes among the prizes. The annual event attracted a field of 307 runners, including a number of internationalists.

Darren Jubb got his 2018 campaign off to a flying start placing 12th overall in 21.15. Colin Somerville was not far behind in 14th position timing at 21.36, with Jonathan Peebles hot on his heels, running 21.38, in 15th position. Daniel Monaghan showed the benefits of the recent cross country season, placing 21st in 22.22, while veteran internationalist Ian Stewart showed his class to win the Veteran 60 category recording an impressive 23.50.

Mary Western was the leading PH lady, clocking a time of 25.21, and kick starting her 2018 campaign, winning the Veteran 50 category.

The Portobello event also incorporated the first event in the PH Racing Club Championship with Darren Jubb and Mary Western the early leaders.
