Saturday saw PH Racing Club athletes make the trip to Stirling for the opening meet in East District Cross Country League.

It was a traditional Scottish day with heavy rain falling making the underfoot conditions of the course even more challenging, Alison Whyte was the sole PH female, enjoying a strong run timing at 26.39 over the 2 testing laps to place 8th in the veteran category.

The men’s race consisted of 3 undulating laps totalling 9km and the PH top performer was Darren Jubb in 35.13 followed by Dan Monaghan and Jonathan Peebles in 35.26 and 35.53 respectively. Stuart Mackay, Johnny Cassells and John Crookston made up the 6 counters to ensure a 10th place finish out of 33 competing club in this opening league fixture.

Overall it was another enjoyable event, competing against the other clubs in the league. Thanks must go to the host club Central Athletics and the many volunteers involved in making the East District league possible.

Over in Germany, there was more success for Roger Clark and Anne Hartmann who were racing the Falke Rothaarsteig Marathon. This trail marathon takes in over 800m of climbing, with Roger racing well to finish on the podium in 2nd place timing at 2.54.27. Anne also performed well, making the female podium in 2nd place, posting 3.18.07. Well done to both Roger and Anne on their success.
