Strathclyde Park welcomed over 350 runners for the annual Tom Scott 10 Mile Memorial Race on Sunday morning with the event incorporating the Scottish National 10 Mile Championships. PH Racing Club were again mixing it with the nation’s leading athletes in an event which was won by Wayney Ghebreslassie (Shettleston Harriers) in a swift 49.43. Olympic athlete Derek Hawkins (Kilbarchan AAC) took the silver medal in 49.57 with Inverclyde AC’s Craig Ruddy occupying the bronze medal position timing at 50.52.

Colin Somerville was the leading PH athlete clocking a personal best of 57.03 in 34th position. Club mate Darren Jubb was hot on his heels covering his ten miles in a new best of 57.13 placing 42nd. Michael Combe also enjoyed a personal best timing at 57.46 in 47th place. Collectively the PH trio finished 7th club overall in the National Championship.

Ian Johnston and Ed Norton ran well in their respective age groups while Natalie Gilliland-Patterson set a new best for ten miles en route to claiming pole position in the PH Club Championship.
