There was a new winner of the PH Racing Club Run of the Month award in July with Peter Gibson topping the poll for the first time. His run of 4:49 at the Kirkcaldy Prom Mile was voted the best of the month by his fellow members. Peter backed this up a fortnight later with a superb new personal best of 16:26 at our own QA 5k, where the photos here were taken.

There were five other nominees for July. Judy Turner was put forward for her V50 gold medal winning run of 49:47 at the Crieff 10k, which incorporated the Scottish Trail Championships. Also running in Crieff was Andrew Wright who won V50 silver, but his July nomination came for his run of 28:10 which placed him top V50 at the Brig Bash 5 in Bridge of Earn. Gayle Lindsay once again won the Brig Bash women’s race and was also on the ballot for her time of 29:59.

Malcolm Hammond was unable to defend his Scottish Marathon title in the London but instead took on the UK’s most northerly marathon, the St Magnus Marathon in Orkney. His time of 4:20:26 on a windy day and on a hilly course was hugely impressive for a 75 year old. And last, but not least, Mark Webster was nominated for his runner up run, behind PH’s Aaron Bennet, at the prestigious Splash ‘n’ Dash beach race at St Andrews, coincidentally also in a time of 29:59.

Well done to all the nominees, and thanks to Graeme Baxter for the QA 5k race photos, Gordon Donnachie for the Crieff 10k and Ross Bennet for his from the Brig Bash 5.
