Our most recent Club Championship event was the Kirkcaldy Prom Mile where there were a number of excellent performances from the 18 PH athletes taking part.

Fastest for the club, and taking home 50 Championship points, was Peter Gibson, in a new PB of 4:49, ahead of Aaron Bennet in 5:04 and Stuart Green who ran 5:09. Not far back was fast-improving Jordy Hutt, who posted 5:12. Next home was Andrew McQueen in 5:32, just ahead of the Marks, Webster and McLean, both timing at 5:35, with Webster finishing a fraction ahead to take the 1st V50 spot. Also first in his age category was Malcolm Hammond who recorded a time of 6:34 to take first place among the V70s.

On the women’s side, Julie Menzies made a late decision to run and it certainly worked out well for her, collecting 50 points to move her to the top of the Championship table after finishing as 1st V50 in 5:48. Lauren Bennet was the only other female member running, with a time of 6:57. Well done to all and thanks to Fife AC/Kirkcaldy Wizards for putting on the Summer Series of races in Kirkcaldy which are always popular with our members.

Later on that same weekend, Aaron led the way at the Splash and Dash Beach Race at St Andrews, winning in a time of 28:10, ahead of runner up Mark Webster who won the V50 prize in 29:59. Ivor McIvor won 1st V70 in 38:37 and Lauren Bennet won the battle of the remaining Bennets beating dad Ross in 39:47.

Last weekend seemed a quieter one on the racing front but Ivor McIvor and Mark Webster were racing again. Ivor added another prize to his ever-growing list of V70 accolades, taking home bottle of Ardbeg for finishing 2nd V70 at the Islay Half Marathon in 1:52:57. Meanwhile, Mark was the only PH representative at the Templeton Trail Race, where he finished in 38:49.
