Unless you have been living under a rock you will be aware that the London Marathon took place on Sunday. We had four PH athletes taking part in a race where both the men’s and women’s world records were broken in spectacular style.

Top dog for PH was Dan Monaghan, using his the club spot well by finishing in 2:50:06, less than 51 minutes behind the leaders in an incredible race. It was a pretty hot day by all accounts, not ideal for Dan’s milk bottle complexion, but he was happy to get very close to his time from Frankfurt 2025 and is already making plans for his next marathon.

Wright Beveridge and Mark McLean are both veterans of the London Marathon and were back for another go this year using their Good For Age times. Wright crossed the finish at The Mall in 3:14:32 with Mark further back in 3:25:14, having struggled on the second half due to the heat.

As a Six Star Finisher, Sarah Paterson has previously run all the original six Marathon Majors and was also able to gain entry with a Good For Age time. This year she slowed the pace a bit to run with her sister, finishing herself in about 4:40, though this did involve waiting about 15 mins to meet up in the first 5k having been in different starts at different times!

The day before, Martin McNellis finished the Devil o’ the Highlands 42 Mile Ultra Trail Race despite taking a tumble, cracking some ribs and scraping his head, knees and elbow. Well done to Martin for pulling through in 10:23:54.

And finally, for now, newly joined member Carol Kirk was down at the Blackpool Half Marathon where she finished in 2:10:31, also in warm conditions.

Well done to everyone who raced over the weekend.
