The second meeting of this season’s East District Cross Country League took place at Camperdown Park, Dundee on Saturday 20th November with a number of excellent performances by PH Racing Club athletes.

Andy Davis, Paul Kieran and Mark Webster combined to ensure the men’s masters team finished in first place on the day. Davis posted the fastest run for PH, covering the 8.6km course in 35:08, 3rd master and 30thoverall. Kieran finished his three laps in 36:52 and was 7th master while Webster was 19th in 38:47. This gave a points total of 29 and moved PH into top place in the league.

The senior men’s team also had an excellent day with Darren Jubb (36:26), under 20 member Aaron Bennet (36:46) and Colin Somerville (38:17) combining with the three masters counters to place the team in 6th on the day and move up to 4th for the season so far.

The women’s race covered two laps of the hilly course with Julie Menzies first home in 27:23. Mary Western also had a good run of 29:39 and the teams was completed by Clare Graham (32:48) and Susan Allan (34:35). This placed the team 9th on the day and the same for the season to date. Menzies, Western and Graham also made up the masters team which placed 4th on the day and sits 6th overall in the league.

Well done to all who represented the club in the cross country league, especially V70 Malcolm Hammond who enjoyed his first XC race since school. We are all looking forward to the final fixture at Livingston in January but will not be complacent with the men’s masters having been in a similar position in 2019/20 before being pipped at the post! Before that, we have a good number of entries in for next weekend’s East District Championships in Stirling.

On the weekend just past, overseas members Gayle and Katrina Lindsay both had high placings in half marathons on the islands where they are based. First up on Saturday was Kat at the British Virgin Islands Sunrise Half Marathon. She placed 5th overall and 1st female in a new personal best time of 1:36:11. Then on Sunday, twin sister Gayle placed 7th overall and 2nd female at the Hannover Re Half Marathon in Bermuda, also setting a new PB of 1:27.59. It will be great to see both racing on home soil at our very own sold out Tilli 10k in just less than a month!
