PH Racing Club’s Jonathan Peebles was in excellent form at this morning’s Tokyo Marathon, improving his personal best by over 15 minutes and setting a new club record for the marathon of 2:40:38.

Jonathan had put in weeks of hard training and would have known he was in good form after a second place finish and personal best time of 75:56 at the recent Windsor Winter Half Marathon but as everyone knows it is not an easy task to convert this into a good marathon time.  With mile splits never rising much above 6 minutes through the entire race and a strong finish, this is exactly what he did.

Having previously run Berlin (2015), London (2016 and 2017), Chicago (2017), New York (2017) and Boston (2018), Tokyo represented the sixth and final event of the Abbott World Marathon Majors series and upon completion of the race, Jonathan was awarded a coveted 6 Star medal alongside his Tokyo Marathon finishers’ medal.

Congratulations from all at PH Racing Club on a superb achievement.

Closer to home on Saturday, junior members Andrew Thomson and Aaron Bennet were the only athletes to represent their respective schools at the Scottish Secondary Schools XC Championships at Hopetoun House.  Andrew, representing Inverkeithing HS, finished in 38th position in the u17 race, covering the tough 5k course in 19:08 while Aaron, of Beath High, finished 91st in 22:27.  Well done to both!
