There were 11 PH Racing Club members in action at the Ceres 8 Mile Road Race near Cupar on Tuesday evening with a number winning prizes on the night.

This popular race had not been run since 2015 and was resurrected over a slightly different route run in the opposite direction to previously.  If anything this made the course even more challenging with a number of gruelling climbs before the luxury of a fast downhill finish.

Dan Monaghan continued his current fantastic form with a 3rd place finish in 47:33 behind Olympian Derek Rae and Billy Gibson of Dundee Hawkhill.  Robert Sellar was not far behind him, finishing as 1st V40, and 4th overall, in 47:48 to maintain his second position in the PH Club Championship for which this was a counter.  Jonathan Peebles was only a further 5 seconds back crossing the line in 5th position.

In the very competitive ladies race won by Fife AC’s Sheena Logan, Kristin Lownie was first over the line for PH finishing as 5th female in 53:09.  Jennifer Caldwell was the other PH representative and she moved into pole position in the ladies Club Championship with four races remaining.

Wright Beveridge had an excellent race to finish in 18th position with a time of 50:46 just over a minute ahead of Iain Taylor who won the V50 prize in 51:52.  PH also had the 1stand 2nd prize winners in the V60 category with John Crookston again coming out on top with a 53:34 finish.  Ian Johnston took the 2nd prize crossing the line in 56:01.

Well done to all PH competitors for a great night’s running over a brutal course.  The race was a sell out with 180 finishers on the night. Thanks to Fife AC for the organisation and post race refreshments and to John Mill for the race photos.
