A busy weekend for racing was kicked off on Friday evening by Darren Deas at the first Beveridge Park 5k of the season.  Darren placed 5thoverall in a new best time of 17.34.  Graham McInnes also set a new PB of 19.22 with John Crookston and Ian Johnston running well to finish 1stand 2ndin the V60 category.  Thanks and well done to new organiser Alison McGill and Fife AC for a smooth first event of the year.

The 52nd running of the Jim Dingwall Memorial Round The Houses 10k took place in Grangemouth on Sunday and nine PH athletes took part in what was the 5thcounter in the 2018 Club Championship.  The new course introduced last year proved tricky with most running slightly slower than their personal bests but there were still some good runs.

First home once again for PH in 35thplace, and already amassing a seemingly insurmountable lead in the male Championship, was Darren Jubb in 35.11.  Not far behind was Robert Sellar also finishing inside the top 50 in a competitive field with a time of 35.48.  The improving pair of Darren Candlish and Niall Balloch did buck the trend by logging new PBs of 37.16 and 42.13 respectively while John Crookston posted his best run over the distance for some time finishing as 4th V60 in 41.16.  Ed Norton finished 1stin the V65 category.

Thanks to Falkirk Victoria Harriers for once again putting on such a good race.

Meanwhile some of our members were among the thirty thousand runners at the Berlin Half Marathon with Dan Monaghan and Wright Beveridge both having fine runs to secure new personal best times.  Dan finished as 191st male in a time of 79.52 while Wright also ran well to time at 81.20.

Last but not least Paula Frame completed her first ultra marathon, the Kielder 50k Trail Race at Kielder Water and Forest Park in Northumberland.

Well done to all on a good weekend of competition and thanks to Wullie Law and GBX Photography for the excellent race photographs.  The next counter on the Club Championship will be the Scottish 5k Championships next month at Silverknowes.
