Leading up to next week’s National XC it was a quieter weekend for PH from a racing perspective with a number of members taking the opportunity to get some good marathon training miles in. Five members though made the trip to Tulliallan for Carnegie Harriers’ annual Devilla Forest 5k/15k races.
These events have proven to be very popular and were once again sold out so it was pleasing to see athletes from PH Racing Club featuring near the front of both.
London-based Aussie Luke Peel made a longer trip than most to take part and was the first PH finisher in the tough 15k race timing at 58.19 for 6th position. Stuart Mackay, Dennis Howett and Jonathan Campbell completed the club’s contingent in the race.
Meanwhile, junior athlete Daniel Smith took part in the shorter 5k race. There were some fine times at the sharp end of the race on what is a far from easy 5k course and Daniel’s time of 17.31 was enough to secure 5th position overall and 2nd junior behind Central’s improving Lewis Dow.
Thanks must go to Carnegie Harriers for putting on such an awesome event and to Pete Bracegirdle (5k) and Carnegie Harriers/Steve Adam (15k) for the superb race photos.
