On Sunday ten athletes travelled over to Greenock for the Renfrewshire 5 Mile Road Championship. This County Championship welcomes guest runners from across the country to compete in a stellar race.

First PH athlete home was Darren Jubb, finishing in 16th position timing at 27.20 with Jonathan Peebles hot on his heels in 18th position (27.25). Further down the field Robert Sellar and Daniel Monaghan were locked in a battle, with Robert (27.51) pipping Daniel (27.55) to the line and finishing 2nd veteran 40 overall.

John Cassells and Darren Candlish recorded new personal bests of 29.23 and 29.54 respectively, while there were also personal bests for Niall Balloch and Jason Buttery. Ian Johnston was the 2nd fastest veteran 60 on the day and new member Jennifer Caldwell enjoyed a strong run on her first race for the club.

Well done to all on a good weekend of racing and thanks to all volunteers and the host club Inverclyde Athletic Club for putting on such a great event.
