Alloa was the venue for the second fixture of this season’s East District Cross Country League on Saturday and 14 PH athletes completed the tough course.

As ever the ladies were up first and Alison Whyte was first of the PH females to finish the muddy two lap course in 29.15, with Mary Western not far behind in 30.08.

In the men’s race, the team consolidated 10th place in the league with a 9th place finish on the day. First of the PH men to complete his three laps was Darren Jubb in 35.05, followed by Daniel Monaghan (35.59). Colin Somerville was the next over the line in 37.02 with Jonathan Peebles, Wright Beveridge and Scott Love completing the six counters.

It was also great to see veteran cross country internationalist Ian Stewart making his PH debut putting in a good run in 40.37.

Thank you to host club Wee County Harriers and all the volunteers involved in putting on such a fine event.

In somewhat more pleasant conditions this morning, Ian Johnston took the V60 prize at the Benidorm 10k in a time of 43.15. Well done to Ian on picking up what we are sure will be the first of many prizes in his new age category.
