Sixteen PH members made the short trip to Edinburgh for the annual Corstorphine 5 Mile Race on Wednesday. As ever, the race attracted a high class field including GB international athlete Andrew Douglas who set a new course record of 24.41. PH athletes also put in some excellent performances in this club championship race, run over a challenging course.

First Racing Club member home was Colin Somerville, finishing in 11th place in 27.51, and moving slightly closer to leader Darren Jubb in the championship. Darren himself was not far behind in 28.05 which was good enough for 14th position. Making up the PH men’s team who finished 3rd in the club competition was Robert Sellar, 19th in 28.44.

In the ladies race the PH team of Rachel Drummond, Natalie Gilliland-Patterson and Lesley Mealing finished as 4th team. Rachel was first member over the line in 35.08 ahead of ladies championship leader Natalie.

The remainder of the PH male contingent, including new member Niall Balloch on his PH debut, also put in good performances.

Thanks to Corstorphine Athletics Club for organising an excellent race and thanks to Graeme Reid for the photo of Johnny, Wright and Dan (5th, 6th and 7th PH over the line).
