On Sunday morning approximately 6500 runners converged on the unusual setting of Blair Drummond Safari Park for the inaugural Stirling Scottish Marathon which followed a route through Doune, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, round the Stirling University campus and into the city itself where there was a 2.5 lap route to complete.

There were a good few PH athletes among these numbers and first over the line was Anne Hartmann in an excellent time of 3.02.09 which was good enough to secure fifth place at this prestigious event.

Next in was Wallace Mitchell in a new personal best time of 3.17.17 and he was followed by Calum Vallance in a new best 3.24.34 with Graham McInnes not far behind in 3.26.00. Lesley Mealing was close to the 4 hour mark on her first marathon while other PH finishers included Scott Blyth and Lorraine Abbot.

Well done to all and thanks to Ed Norton for the photographs. It looks like this event could become a mainstay of the Scottish running calendar.
