Racing Club were represented by ten members at the 4 mile Portobello Promathon on New Year’s Day. The annual event attracted a huge field of 333 runners with an array of international athletes taking part in both the men’s and ladies races.

Roger Clark got his 2017 campaign off to a flying start placing 12th overall and leading M40 in 21.25. Jonathan Peebles was hot on his heels, running a personal best of 21.44 in 19th position. Darren Jubb set a new best of 21.50 (21st) and Stuart Mackay recorded a time of 22.02 in 23rd position.

Rachel Drummond was the leading PH lady clocking a time of 26.32 while Natalie Brown and Lorraine Abbot also ran well setting new personal bests.

The Portobello event also incorporated the first event in the PH Racing Club Championship with Roger Clark and Rachel Drummond the early leaders.

Also on New Year’s morning, Ben Hukins set a new course record at the Kirkcaldy parkrun covering the 5k course in an excellent 15.44.
