PH Racing Club celebrated their Scottish Athletics affiliation in style with a superb turnout of members excelling at the Stuart Duncan 5k in Glenrothes on Tuesday evening.

From the gun, PH members were to the fore with eventual race winner Colin Somerville, Jonathan Peebles and Darren Jubb pushing the pace. Somerville forged ahead over the final mile breaking the tape in an impressive 16.49. Team mate, Jonathan Peebles ran a strong race finishing 2nd in 17.02 with Darren Jubb taking 3rd in 17.07.

Andrew Smith continued the flow of PH athletes finishing 4th in new PB time of 17.13 while Martin Butcher on his club debut clocked a fast 17.43 placing 5th. Johnny Cassells was the leading Male 40 covering the out and back 3.1 mile distance in 18.22 in 6th position overall. Scott Love finished 8th in 18.32, Ed Norton was the first Male 60 timing at 20.01 and Andy Jannetta took a big chunk off his 5k PB running 19.38.

Racing Club’s Mary Western produced an outstanding run winning the ladies race in 19.16 with club mate Suzy Goodall placing 2nd lady in 19.35. Rachel Drummond also maintained her excellent form clocking 20.33 in 4th place. Leanne Jubb was the next PH lady home setting a personal best of 24.06.
