PH Racing Club were well represented at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival with many personal bests recorded along with a podium finish.
Karen Kennedy excelled to finish 2nd lady overall at Saturday’s EMF 10k which attracted a field of 2332 runners. Karen covered the challenging 6.2 mile course in a superb time of 40.40 to also finish leading Female 40.
On Sunday morning, several Racing Club members tackled the 26.2 miles of the Edinburgh Marathon. Michael Combe was the leading PH athlete clocking an excellent 2.53.24 placing 67th overall from 6,555 runners. Mark Mackenzie continues to go from strength to strength and ran a personal best of 3.24.33. Colin Reynolds reached the finish in Musselburgh in 3.44.11 while Andy Baxter on his debut marathon timed at 3.51.00. Congratulations to Wallace Mitchell and Ed Norton who completed their first marathons in 3.58.09 and 4.17.12 respectively. Well done to Lorraine Abbot who removed 11 mins from her marathon best clocking 4.43.45 with Brian Abbot also finishing in 4.43.45.
Anne Hartmann was in outstanding form at the EMF Half Marathon recording a new best of 1.26.29 finishing 2nd overall in the Female 35 category. Team mate Rachel Drummond produced her fastest ever 13.1 miler setting a PB of 1.33.51 while fast improving Zoe Stuart knocked over 3 minutes from her previous best finishing in a superb 1.37.55. Scott Blyth clocked a new best of 1.33.39 and Scott Love finished in 1.38.34.
Also in Edinburgh, three PH Racing Club members lined up amongst 475 runners at weekly parkrun 5k. Johnny Cassells clocked 18.50 in 20th position while the in form Mary Western and Suzy Goodall finished 2nd and 3rd lady respectively in 19.29 and 19.39.
PH Racing Club were to the fore at Kirkcaldy’s parkrun with Ryan Lafferty taking 1st place in 17.53 while Davie Pugh ran 19.32 to finish in 8th place. Andy Jannetta set a new best finishing 11th in 20.14
Junior athlete, Daniel Smith made his debut at the Dunfermline parkrun finishing 4th overall and leading junior in 19.13 while Ian Johnston placed 8th in 20.28.
