It was another successful weekend for PH’s Malcolm Hammond who was on the Emirates track in Glasgow again, this time winning the Scottish Indoor Masters V75 3000m in a championship record time of 12:35.82. This completed a hat trick of Scottish Indoor titles, following on from last month’s 800m and 1500m golds, also setting championship records in both.

It’s an incredible fourth national title of the year already, with Malcolm also having picked up gold at the Masters Cross Country Championships in January, and winning our own Run of the Month vote for this.

Malcolm was deservedly very happy with his performance and also enjoyed having the chance to share the warm up track with Olympic and World medal winners Keely Hodgkinson and Georgia Hunter-Bell. “Absolutely buzzing. That’s four Scottish Athletics Golds in four weeks, now 2026 MV75 Champion at Cross Country, and indoor 800m, 1500m, 3000m, all in a PH Vest really, buzzing and proud of this personally and for our club.”

Well done to Malcolm and thanks to Scottish Athletics for putting on another great event. Hopefully this will inspire more of our athletes to take part in these national championships.
