Luke McNeil has been in excellent form all year, and has been nominated almost every month for PH’s Run of the Month Award, without coming out on top. We can now report that his superb club record run of 15:36 at the Fast ‘n’ Flat 5k in Linlithgow has been voted the best performance of September by his fellow members and he will now join all the previous winners on the ballot for Run of the Year.

Luke could easily have been nominated for his personal best of 32:49 at Stirling 10k, which narrowly missed out on the club record, or his time of 33:10 at Linlithgow 10k which is arguably a much tougher course. All in all it was another great month for McNeil, who is also the odds on favourite to win the PH Club Championship for 2025.

Other nominees for September included Dan Monaghan, who also ran a PB at Fast ‘n’ Flat, timing at 16:20, and Gillian Wallace who won the female prize at the Letham Glen Trail Race. Ever-green Ed Norton received another nomination for his V70 time of 21:11 Edinburgh parkrun which gave an age grading of 87.96%.

There were two more nominations for events in the last weekend of the month. On the Saturday, Andrew Wright ran the Kelpies Half Marathon and finished 3rd overall in 1:15:09. Then on the Sunday, Phil Waring put in another brilliant marathon run to set a new personal best of 2:4659 at the Loch Ness Marathon.

Well done to all nominees and thank you to Davis McNulty Photography who provided race photos for both the Fast ‘n’ Fast 5k and Kelpies Half.
