Once again there were a number of excellent race performances nominated for PH Racing Club’s Run of the Month award and we are delighted to announce that the overwhelming winner was Andy Davis.

As previously reported, Andy took on the Moray Way 100 Mile Ultra to mark his 50th birthday but things did not turn out as expected, the race being curtailed to 120km due to a wildfire. Since Andy was leading, having already covered 138km before raising the alarm himself, he was declared the winner of what turned out to be a race he will never forget. This means he will also now go forward to the Run of the Year vote in December.

Also nominated for their ultra-running perfomances, at the prestigious West Highland Way Race, were Andy Jannetta and Martin McNellis. Andy’s time of 21 hours, 19 minutes and 13 seconds placed him 16th overall, while Martin’s time of just over 33 hours placed him at the other end of the results, but took a huge amount of grit and determination to get over the line.

Gayle Lindsay is no stranger to winning our Run of the Month award, having won the first two for December and January. She was once again nominated in June for her women’s race win at the Milnathort Dash where she finished 10th overall in 31:48, a superb time for an undulating race of over 5 miles.

Luke McNeil has been a fixture among the nominations with a succession of great performances making it difficult to know which to pick some months. His June nomination came for the Kirkcaldy Prom 2 Mile where he finished 3rd overall in a new PH Racing Club record of 9:59. Ewan Taylor is also a previous nominee and he was on the June ballot for his 4th place finish at the hilly Skye Half Marathon, where he won the V40 prize for his run of 1:18:30.

Willie Rennie was nominated for his run of 3:12:28 at the undulating Strathearn Marathon which earned him 2nd V50. As everyone knows, Willie is not shy about a photo opportunity. Our final nominee, Phil Waring on the other hand seems to have been just too fast for the photographer at the inaugural Race The Tram Race in Edinburgh, where he finished in second place. This unusual event was not officially timed, but Phil covered his route from Newhaven Terminus back to Edinburgh Park Central, over 7 miles, in about 45 mins to easily beat the tram.

Well done to all and thanks to the various photographers including Stuart Ross Media, Gordon Donnachie and Michael Philp Photography.
