PH Racing Club’s Ewan Taylor got his new year off to a good start at the Aonach Mor Uphill Race at Nevis Range, just outside Fort William. This annual race, organised by Lochaber AC comprises a 4km course with approximately 610m of climbing, and this year took place in snowy conditions.

It’s been a favourite race for Taylor over the last few years and this was another good run as he finished 1st V40, and 8th overall, in 26:41, almost 20 seconds clear of 2nd veteran Stuart Crutchfield of Westerlands Cross Country Club.

The overall male podium places were all filled by the host club with Robin Downie defending his title in 25:00, followed by Huw Oliver and Andrew Barrington. Sarah Hodgson of Highland Hill Runners was 1st female in 29:52, ahead of Strathearn Harriers’ Hanna McInally and Hazel Farnell, also from Lochaber AC.
