It was another successful week for PH Racing Club with prizes and podium placings across a number of races.

On Saturday the big local event was the Loch Leven Half Marathon which attracted a number of PH athletes with the men’s team of John Hammond, Scott Cassidy and Mark Webster scooping the team prize, just ahead of hosts Kinross Road Runners. Scotland international Hammond had lead earlier in the race before being pegged back by Jamie Lessels, now of Fife AC, before finishing in second place in 1:18:14. Cassidy did not disappoint on his PH debut, placing 10th in 1:21:25. The team was completed by race junkie Mark Webster who finished 17th in 1:24:05 before nipping off to the Norman’s Law Race where he finished in a respectable time of 39:27.

Next home for PH Racing was Mark McLean in 1:26:52, before Alan McGowan in 1:28:10), closely followed by Kevin Hughes who timed at 1:28:16 for his fastest half in 12 years. Not to be outdone by son John, Malcolm Hammond placed as 1st V70 in 1:38:07 and Clare Graham posted a time of 1:54:16.

Meanwhile over in Midlothian, Borders resident Scott McDonald was in action at the Penicuik 10k where he also finished in a podium position, placing 3rd overall, and 1st V50, in 37:20, behind Max Meres of Edinburgh AC and Dan MacQueen of host club Penicuik Harriers.

On Sunday, Michael Lindsay finished 4th, though 3rd male behind multiple world record holder Fiona Matheson, at the Blast Running #ReclaimTheseStreets 5k, timing at 19:26. Ed Norton was on the only other PH entrant, finishing 7th and 1st V70 in 21:06.

Earlier on in the week, Ben Hukins placed 2nd at the Strathkinnes-Blebocraigs Race finishing in 26:20. This was the second race in the Fife AC Midweek Series over a distance of approximately 4.5 miles, from Strathkinnes to Blebocraigs and back, and was won by Russell Hall of the host club. Louise and Emma Lessels finished in 6th and 7th position in the ladies race with Emma also 1st under 20 in 33:24. Allen Marr was 2nd V60 in a time of 35:32.

Well done to all and thanks to the various race organisers. Thanks also to Gordon Donnachie for the Loch Leven Half Marathon photos and Pete Bracegirdle for Strathkinnes-Blebocraigs.
