Golden anniversaries usually represent 50 years but Scott McDonald’s 55th birthday was certainly golden as he celebrated in style at the Scottish 10,000m Championships in Glasgow. The V55 age category started in the best possible way for him with a gold medal at the Crownpoint track where the championships were run in partnership with the Glasgow Athletics Association and the British Milers Club. Running in heat C, Scott clocked a time of 35:21.81 in his first race over 25 laps since the same event in 2019.
On Sunday morning the popular Forth Road Bridge 10k made a welcome return after being cancelled for the previous two years. This was actually the first of two sold out Forth Road Bridge 10k races this year organised by our neighbours Pitreavie AAC, the other being in August. A number of PH athletes took part in the first event.
Highest placed for PH Racing was Peter Gibson, who just missed out on a podium place in 4th, timing at 36:02. Mark Webster was also inside the top 10, placing 9th and 4th V40 in 37:16. Mark McLean was 17th in 40:02 while Andrew Kinninmonth managed a chip time of 41:11 in 22nd.
Judy Turner was the sole female representative for the club and she also placed 4th, and 2nd V40, with a time of 44:17.
Well done to all and thanks to the race organisers for putting on the events. Thanks also to Bobby Gavin/That One Moment for the 10,000m race photo and to Gordon Donnachie for the Forth Road Bridge 10k photos.
