Two PH Racing Club athletes took on marathons at the weekend, both looking to improve on their personal best times.

Mark Webster was in Manchester aiming to better his time of 2:51:38 from the 2016 Loch Ness Marathon, where he won V40 gold in the Scottish Marathon Championship. By his own admission he started off a bit too fast, actually bettering his 10k PB for the first 10k of the race and almost matching his half marathon best set a fortnight ago in Alloa. The last 5 miles were tough but he managed to hold it together and can be very happy with his new personal best time of 2:47:56.

Meanwhile, over in Paris, Mark McLean was looking to beat the time of 3:08:56 he posted at last October’s Manchester Marathon. He also took off rather swiftly but settled down and ran the rest of the race at a pretty consistent pace to finish in a new best of 3:04:38.

Well done to both Marks who are already looking ahead to their next assault on sub 2:45 and sub 3 hours respectively!

Unsure why all these people are pointing their cameras at an old building when Mark McLean is there
