Following on from last weekend’s Masters Cross Country success, PH athletes enjoyed another fantastic weekend, winning a clutch of medals at the Scottish Indoor Masters Championships in Glasgow.

The first event with PH interest was the 400m where Roger Clark was in excellent form, adding to his 2021 Scottish and British outdoor titles with a gold medal in the V50 category, timing at 56.72. Julie Menzies, fresh from winning team and individual medals at last week’s cross country, took silver in the V45 category where she finished in 70.02 on her indoor track debut.

Menzies didn’t have much of a rest before she was back in action, this time in the 800m where she struck gold with a superb run of 2:36.71 and she was soon joined at the top of the podium by Allen Marr and Ed Norton. Marr took on the lead straight from the gun in his heat and ran out a clear winner in the V65 category with a time of 2:38.21. Second in the same heat, but running in the V70 category, was Ed Norton who ran 2:46.92 to secure a gold medal.

In the 1500m, David Burlton made his PH debut and did not disappoint, winning the V35 gold with a time of 4:30.65. Norton was also doubling up and had another fine run of 5:33.60 to capture his second gold of the day, almost a minute ahead of his nearest category rival.

While the indoor medal winners were enjoying a break from the wind and rain in the Emirates Arena, Judy Turner was back in Fife racing at the Lochore Meadows 5 Mile Trail Race. She had a good run finishing 8th overall and 1st female in a time of 34:13. Michael Lindsay was also racing at the Blast Valentine’s 10k at Silverknowes where he managed a new PB time of 38:57. You’ve got to love that!

Well done to all on another excellent day’s work and thanks to Scottish Athletics and the numerous volunteers for putting on another well organised event.
