Andrew Wright was in top form at the recent Scottish Hill Running Championships at Comrie in Perthshire where the overall male winner was Commonwealth medalist Robbie Simpson, with last year’s female champion Scout Adkin retaining her title.
Wright, last year’s silver medalist in the V40 category went one better this year, winning gold in a time of 59.06 for the 12k route for 24th place overall. The unusual route, with 830m of ascent and just 150m of descent, included a road section near the start before a tough climb finishing at the top of 786m high Carn Chois.
Michael McConnell and Michael Stewart also took part in the event which, due to current restrictions, was run in waves with McConnell timing at 1:09:50 and Stewart finishing in 1:25:50.
Well done to all three on their performances and thanks to Angela Mudge and Scottish Athletics for putting on the event. Image courtesy of Pete Bracegirdle from a previous race.
