Three PH athletes took to the indoor track of the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Sunday and between them they managed to rack up an impressive haul of four medals at the 4J Studios Scottish Athletics Indoor Masters Championships.
Allen Marr is no stranger to winning medals there having taken both the Scottish 3000m and 1500m V60 titles last year. This year he took a step down in distance attempting a 400m and 800m double with just 20 minutes between events!
First up was the 400m where Marr ran a superb time of 64.89 seconds to secure yet another gold medal for his collection, as well as a personal best and club record. The lack of recovery time meant the second half of the 800m event (pictured) became all about hanging on for silver, but Marr managed just that with another excellent time of 2:28.40.
Also taking part in the 800m was Stuart Tite who ran in the V40 category. He also set a new club record with his time of 2:19.95 and won a bronze medal behind Darran Muir of Law and District AC and Iain Robertson of Clydesdale Harriers.
Last but not least, Paul Kieran won his first national medal, a silver in the 1500m where he was competing in the V45 category. Like his team mates, he set a new club record for the distance, and personal best, timing at 4:24.00 behind Allan Cameron of Motherwell AC.
At the other end of the distance scale, Andy Jannetta took part in the Falkirk 8 Hour Ultra event at an extremely muddy Callendar House. Jannetta completed 13 laps of the tough 3.8 mile main course followed by 2 smaller loops to gain some extra distance as time was running out. This gave a total distance of 50.201 miles within the 8 hours and, after some initial confusion, a very credible 7th position overall.
Well done to all who took part in the two events over the weekend and thanks to Alan Ramage for the race photo.
