PH Racing Club were well represented at Saturday’s East District Cross Country Relays with teams of three ladies and four men racing around a 4km course at Deans Community High School in Livingston.
Against strong competition, PH ladies put in a sterling performance placing 13th team (8th club) on the day. Kristin Lownie undertook the opening leg covering the sapping course in 16.19. Julie Menzies on her cross country debut produced an outstanding run timing at 16.50 before Alison McGill on the anchor leg brought the Dunfermline based club home in 13th position (49.27) clocking an impressive 16.18. Fife AC were in top form winning the title in 44.45 ahead of Edinburgh University (45.09) and 3rd placed Lasswade AAC (45.45). 53 teams from 28 competing clubs took part.
The men’s race saw PH Racing Club field three teams amongst the 72 teams from 30 clubs taking part. The PH ‘A’ team saw Michael McConnell cover Leg 1 in a fast 14.02 before handing across to Rab Sellar who found the course to his liking timing at 14.21. Stuart Tite took on the penultimate leg (15.23) before Paul Kieran brought the team home in 25th position (58.40) and 13th club in 14.54.
The PH ‘B’ team which featured Philip Waring (15.11), Billy Stewart (16.58), Michael Lindsay (16.51) and Wright Beveridge (16.07) placed 46th overall in 65.07 while the PH ‘C’ Team comprising of Graham McInnes (16.34), Alan Cockburn (16.32), Allan Marr (18.02) and Mark McLean (17.40) were 55th in 68.48. The race was won by a highly talented Edinburgh University team in 50.50 with Central AC (51.07) and Fife AC (51.54) placing second and third.
Next Saturday the opening fixture in the East District Cross Country League takes places within the grounds of Stirling University with PH Racing Club set to feature in the Under 17 Men, Senior / Vet Ladies and Senior / Vet Men’s races.
