There were yet more prizes for athletes from PH Racing Club at both the Scottish Athletics Masters XC Championships at Hawick on Saturday and Sunday’s Forfar Multi Terrain Half Marathon.

Karen Kennedy was once again among the medals in the V45 category, the gold medal winner of the last two years having to settle for silver on this occasion behind HBT’s Megan Wright.  Her time of 27:26 secured 7th place overall in the tough 6k female race to cap a fantastic fortnight that has seen Karen also win both the East District XC League masters trophy and SVHC Road Relay as part of the PH women’s team.

John Crookston also ran a great race to finish as third V60 in the 8k mens race and add another Scottish Athletics medal to his own growing collection.  His time of 33:52 is even more impressive given the fact it included a stop to retie a lace!

Also running an impressive race in PH colours was Andrew Wright who lead the field for a large portion of the race before eventually finishing in 7th overall in a time of 29:02.  Paul Kieran completed his race in 31:24 to finish in 18th place on his return from injury.  Other PH athletes racing were Pete Simpson, Allen Marr and Ian Johnston.

On Sunday Kristin Lownie ran a superb race to take victory in the female event and 10th overall at the Forfar Multi Terrain Half Marathon.  She covered the notoriously tough course in frozen conditions in a time of 1:29:47.  PH team mate Martin Butcher (pictured alongside friend Ben Hopkin and Kristin) was not far behind, covering his 13.1 miles in 1:32:12.
