Saturday was a successful day for PH athletes in half marathons on both sides of the country with a number of members on the podium.

At the Loch Leven Half Marathon, Robert Sellar lead for a good portion of the race before an eventual 2nd place finish in 79.48 behind Euan Cunningham of Bellahouston Road Runners.  Darren Deas continued his recent run of good form with another personal best, crossing the line 5th, in a time of 82.18.  Completing the team to win the prize for first male team was Wright Beveridge who finished as 3rd V40 and 11th overall in a time of 84.49.

Over on the other side of the country in Mallaig, a number of club mates were taking part in the scenic Road to the Isles Half Marathon and 10k.  Scott Blyth and Keith Vandermotten were 14th and 17th respectively for the tough Half Marathon course.  In the accompanying 10k, Wallace Mitchell and Natalie Gilliland-Patterson were the only PH representatives with Wallace 3rd and Natalie 9th overall and 4th female.

The previous night the action was at Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy for the second of this year’s 5k Series.  Colin Somerville got the weekend off to a good start with a 2nd place finish in a time of 16.55.  In 8th was Andy Jannetta, ‘fresh’ from completing the 53 mile Highland Fling under 2 weeks ago.  This did not prevent him from showing his pace to knock a significant chunk off his previous best and set a new mark of 18.19.  Graham McInnes was the 3rd PH finisher in 19.34 before John Crookston (19.45) and Ian Johnston (20.51) secured the top two positions in the V60 category.

Well done to all on an excellent weekend’s racing so far and thanks to Gordon Donnachie and Wullie Law for the excellent pictures.
