PH Racing Club’s Karen Kennedy was in action in Derry, Northern Ireland on Saturday after being chosen by Scottish Veteran Harriers to compete for Scotland at this year’s British and Irish Masters’ International.
This annual cross country event is for the leading age group athletes from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland and there was a high class field including former Olympian Nick Rose competing for England.
Karen was making her second appearance at this level, following last year’s debut in Glasgow, and she acquitted herself well, completing the tough 6k cross country course in a very respectable 25.36. The Scotland team did well overall coming in 3rd place behind winners England.
It is fantastic to see a PH member getting international recognition and well deserved for Karen who has put in a tremendous amount of work recently, firstly to come back from injury then to get selected for and race in the international. Well done from everyone at the club and thanks to Tommy Lawrence for the photos.
