16 PH Racing Club members were among the 1100 runners taking part in the annual Black Rock ‘5’ in Kinghorn on Friday evening. As always, the iconic race attracted a high class field of athletes with several of our runners featuring right at the sharp end.
Ben Hukins put in a great effort finishing 8th overall in 24:08. Colin Somerville was also on form clocking an impressive 25.51, while Daniel Monaghan and Wright Beveridge covered the 4.5 mile course in 27.47 and 27.56 respectively.
Throughout the field there were many strong performances with Andrew Jannetta enjoying a strong run, Dennis Howett finishing 5th in his age group along with Alan Cockburn placing 8th V50.
A few hours later in the early hours of Saturday morning, PH Racing Club’s Martin Butcher started his 95 mile grueling journey on the West Highland Way. This 95 mile ultra marathon takes in over 10000ft of climbing over challenging terrain. Martin completed the race inside his personal target of 20 hours timing at 19.58.30 and placing 13th overall.
Well done to all PH athletes over the weekend and thanks to Derek Johnstone for the excellent race photographs.
