PH Racing Club were well represented at the Down by the River 10K Race on Sunday morning in Cambuslang. This fast and flat race incorporated the 3rd counting event in the PH Club Championship and saw members record personal bests. Karen Kennedy was to the fore in the ladies race, clocking a fast 38.49, recording an excellent race win and finishing eleven seconds clear of 2nd placed lady, Nikki Lyons (Dumbarton AC). Mary Western also had a superb race placing 4th lady overall and leading F50 in 39.29.

The men’s race was won by the host club’s Ryan Thomson (Cambuslang Harriers) in 31.37 with PH club coach, Ben Hukins taking 5th place overall in 32.31. A succession of Racing Club members followed shortly thereafter with Colin Somerville clocking an impressive 34.44 finishing in 16th position, Jonathan Peebles was hot on his heels placing 18th in 34.49 while Darren Jubb was 19th in 34.53. Robert Sellar recorded 36.09, closely followed by Wright Beveridge timing 36.44. Next PH athlete over the line was Dan Monaghan clocking 37.19 with Wallace Mitchell and Scott Love both setting new bests of 37.36 and 38.18 respectively.

Elsewhere, Marty Davidson was in action at the Bishop Hill Race from Scotlandwell where he covered the 2.2 mile distance complete with 1000ft of climbing in 22.00 placing 3rd overall.
