PH Racing were the highest placed West Fife club in the senior mens and ladies events at Saturday’s East District Relays in Livingston.

Our ladies team placed an impressive 14th overall with Mary Western covering her 4km leg in 16.41 before Alison Whyte recorded 16.28 on leg two and Hannah Devey brought the club home in 17.11.

Andrew Smith ran the opening leg for the men’s team in 14.17 before Darren Jubb clocked 14.04 on leg two. Michael Combe enjoyed a strong run on leg three timing at 13.56 before Colin Somerville ran the anchor leg in 13.42 bringing the PH men home in 15th position.

Overall it was a very solid start to the cross country season for our newly affiliated club.

Martin Butcher and Chris Abraham took PH onto the hills on Sunday with both athletes putting in strong performances at the gruelling 16 mile Pentland Skyline Race which involves over 6,200 feet of climbing.  Martin was the first PH athlete to the finish with a time of 3.14.10 in 67th place while Chris, on his PH race debut, was 146th in 3.44.45.

Lesley Halstead was the sole Racing Club representative at the Neil McCover Half Marathon from Kirkintilloch where she covered the undulating 13.1 mile course in 1.48.06.

Finally, at Hartlepool parkrun, Jason Buttery continued his run of PBs by dipping under 21 minutes for the first time, clocking 20.55.

Well done to all and thanks to Steve Adam for the race photographs.
