PH Racing Club’s Johnny Cassells was in superb form at Sunday’s Loch Ness Marathon covering the 26.2 mile undulating course in a new best of 2.53.25. Johnny who is part of a unique group of only 5 runners (pictured) who have now completed all fifteen Loch Ness Marathons to date took just over 5 minutes from his previous best of 2.58.27 which he set in 2015.
Other PH athletes to successfully cross the finish line in Bught Park, Inverness were Scott Love who set a new best of 3.27.31, Mark Mackenzie, Lesley Halstead and Colin Reynolds. Andrew Smith took part in the corresponding Inverness 10K setting a new best of 35.55. Across in Germany, Catherine Simpson finished the annual Berlin Marathon.
The East Neuk 10k saw five Racing Club members amongst 266 runners who completed the out and back multi-terrain course. Ryan Lafferty headed the PH contingent placing 6th overall in 36.14 while on his club debut, Graeme Doig finished 9th in 37.25. Also making his first appearance in PH colours was David Milroy who clocked 39.53 in 21st position. Mary Western placed 3rd lady overall in 40.31 and Darran Neilson completed his 6.2 miles in 43.38.
Jonathan Peebles continued his races around the UK where he finished Sunday’s Cheltenham Half Marathon in 1.22.31. Rachel Drummond was also in action at the Linlithgow 10k which she completed in 42.47 finishing as 6th female.
