Purpose of the BAR:
To introduce a wider variety of competitive events for members on a semi-handicap basis, in order to create closer competition regardless of age category
Rules:
1. Competition period runs from 1st January until 1st December
2. Any officially organised race within an event type counts
3. You must complete a minimum of one of each event type to count. You’re free to try and improve your points in any event distance up until the competition closing date.
4. The odd distance race can be any event that is not an officially recognised distance but not including any XC race
5. If a hill race is used it must be one from the Scottish Hill Runners or Fell Runners Association calendar

How to score your race:
1. The points system works as follows:
PH points – Put into the table based on your position relative to other male or female PH runners. e.g. 1st PH male = 1 point, 2nd PH female = 2 points, etc.
Place points – Put into the table based on your actual category position in the event for all male or female competitors (not just PH) e.g. 10th senior = 10 points, 5th MV40 = 5 points, 3rd FV50 = 3 points etc. Categories determined by race results e.g. if results include 5 year age brackets you can use these.
2. It is up to members to track their own position using the provided table (link above). Once you have completed all distances you can send to the club secretary for verification.
3. Lowest total points for all events wins for male and female overall. 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded at the committee’s discretion.
4. In the event of a tie at the end of the period, the winner will be decided based on lowest PH placing total score, and if this is tied we’ll think of something else!
5. The club will on a monthly basis from May publish a summary table of BAR status for all those who have completed the distances.
Past winners:
| Year | Male winner | Female winner |
| 2023 | Andrew Wright | Sarah Paterson |
| 2024 | Andrew Wright | Gillian Wallace |
