Congratulations to PH Racing Club’s Luke McNeil, who has once again won our Run of the Month award, this time for his club record-breaking run at last month’s Alloa Half Marathon. As previously reported, Luke bettered coach Ben Hukins time which has stood since the inaugural Kirkcaldy Parks Half Marathon in 2019. His time of 1:11:03 also secured him the overall runner up spot in the race, behind Linlithgow AAC’s Sam O’Neill.

Luke was the overwhelming winner for March with over 50% of the vote, but we did have another five deserving nominees, two of which also came from the Alloa Half. Previous Run of the Month winner Dan Monaghan improved his personal best to 1:15:39, and Alexander McDonald also had a fine run in his first ever half marathon, finishing in 1:26:27.

Earlier in March, another multiple Run of the Month winner, Kristin Lownie took on the Inverness Half Marathon, which also incorporated the Scottish Half Marathon Championships. Kristin’s time of 1:22:53 won her a V40 Scottish bronze medal. Also winning a V40 bronze, in the men’s race, was Ewan Taylor who timed at 1:15:20.

Our final nominee was Malcolm Hammond, winner of this award for the previous two months. Once again he was in gold medal-winning form, at the Scottish Indoor 3000m Championships in Glasgow where he won the V75 category in another championship record time of 12:35.82. This also ranks him no 1 in the UK at the time of writing.

Well done to all and thank you to Alan McLaren for the Alloa race photo. We look forward to seeing what April brings.
