A number of PH athletes made the short journey to the Scottish Police Headquarters on Sunday for the Devilla Forest Trail Races hosted by our neighbours, Carnegie Harriers. Both races had brand new routes for 2026, which saw many of the stony sections replaced with narrow trails, and the longer 15k race was the second event in our Club Championships.
Once again, Luke McNeil was the top man for PH, finishing second overall in what was his first ever trail race. Those new white trail shoes will never be the same again! Luke’s time of 52:25 put him just 20 seconds behind race winner Cameron Muir of Queens Park AC.

Next home, in ninth place overall, and winning the V50 prize in time of 57:56, was Andy Davis. This also put Andy into pole position in the Club Championship with 98 points from the first two races.

Peter Gibson (1:00:02) and Aaron Bennet (1:01:43) also had good runs to complete our team of four which won the overall team prize, though Peter is missing from the prize giving photo below.

Scott Love finished in 1:06:46, just ahead of Kevin Hughes, who ran his first race in a long time in 1:07:20. Not far back again was Wright Beveridge in 1:07:43, before Derek Cosgrove who completed his race in 1:12:36. Having forgotten his trail shoes, Dave Morton did well to stay on his feet in the mud and finish in 1:21:18, while ex-cop Ross Bennet was back on familiar turf and was just happy to get round in 1:39:02.
Meanwhile, John Crookston had stepped down to the 5k event which started 10 minutes after the 15k. To the surprise of no one except himself, he won the V60 prize with an excellent run of 21:28 in 12th place overall.

Well done to all runners and thanks to Carnegie Harriers for putting on another great event. Thanks to David McNulty for the race photos and Nils Krichel for the team one.
