There was more medal success for PH Racing Club’s masters athletes at the recent Scottish Athletics Masters Cross Country Championships which took place at Tollcross Park, Glasgow.

Both our runners in the first race, for women and men over 65, came home with medals. Julie Menzies collected V50 silver for her run of 25:10 over the hilly 6k course before Malcolm Hammond added another V75 gold for his effort of 30:11.

In the second race, for men up to age 64, both Andy Davis and Roger Clark just missed out on medals. Andy was 4th in the V50 category in a time of 29:49 for the 8k course. Roger finished as 5th V55 in 31:48, while Neil McLure was our other representative, coming home in 41:23.

This event came hot on the heels of the last East League meeting of the season at Balbardie Park, Bathgate. At this final race, the PH men were lead home once again by in-form Ben Hukins who timed at 30:11 for his three laps, finishing as the 4th masters runner in the race. Our other masters counters on the day, Andy Davis and Wright Beveridge, helped us finish in the top three masters teams in the league again, behind Corstorphine and winners Metro. In the overall league our other three counters were Dave Morton, Malcolm Hammond and Robert Milton, who ensured we had a respectable 12th place finish for the season.

In the two lap women’s race, Julie Menzies finished as the 3rd masters runner in 23:31, with Clare Graham our only other female runner in 31:17. Well done to all and thanks to Pete Bracegirdle for the race photos from Glasgow.
